Figuring out your sexual identity can be a complex journey—especially if you're still trying to make sense of various labels and what they all mean. If you're wondering whether you're bisexual, one of the first things to know is that there are no hard and fast rules about what it means to be bi. Sexuality is fluid and something you get to define for yourself on your own terms.
But if you're looking for something resembling a textbook definition of what it means to be bi, GLAAD, the world's largest LGBTQIA+ media advocacy organization, has answers. Per the org's website, someone who is bisexual "has the potential to be physically, romantically, and/or emotionally attracted to people of more than one gender, not necessarily at the same time, in the same way, or to the same degree."
Naturally, this means bisexuality means many different things to many different people who identify as bi. If you think you may be bisexual, there are plenty of resources available to help you explore your identity and connect with other members of the bisexual community. Their experiences may help guide you as you navigate and define your own.
So to shine some light on what it's like to discover your bisexuality, we spoke with 32 women and femmes who can recall a pivotal moment in their lives when they knew they were Team Bi. |
