November 1, 2013 | Dear Cosmo Girls, | I wrote on Cosmopolitan.com this week that if you want to be successful, you have to beg for it. If you wait around for your dream job to fall into your lap, you'll be sorely disappointed because it won't. Whatever you want to do — become the next Britney Spears, write the next great American novel, edit a website — you have to actively and shamelessly seek it out. Without desperately applying to jobs and internships in the beginning of my career, I never would have ended up as the editor of Cosmo's website — the very best and most fun job I have ever had. I invited readers who dream of becoming writers and editors to email me at aodell@hearst.com explaining why I should kick them some cash to write for Cosmopolitan.com. The response has been overwhelming and inspiring. Not even lying, I actually teared up a little bit reading some of your emails. And that's not because I am a huge sap, but really because you guys are incredibly amazing people who remind me why I wanted to do what I do in the first place. So please, keep writing me! We need your witty, hilarious, and insightful voices all over Cosmopolitan.com. The site may technically be run by a bunch of editors sitting in cubicles in New York, but you, the readers, are what make Cosmopolitan.com tick and, frankly, matter. Amy Odell Editor of Cosmopolitan.com
